Complaints and Appeals

How authors, reviewers, readers, and third parties can raise concerns.

Last reviewed: 25 August 2025

Complaints

Complaints should be evidence based and should identify the article, submission, policy, or process concern clearly. The journal aims to keep records confidential where appropriate.

Appeals

Appeals should explain the specific procedural or factual basis for reconsideration. Disagreement with a decision alone is not sufficient without evidence of error, conflict, or process failure.

Resolution

The journal may seek independent advice where practical and may uphold, amend, or reverse a decision. Published-record concerns may lead to correction, notice, or other record action.
